Luanne Whitford, age 59, of Darlington, WI, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at her home. She was born July 22, 1953, in Monroe, WI, the daughter of Francis and Janice (Magnuson) Reichling. Luanne graduated from Darlington High School in 1971 and attended Capri Cosmetology School in 1972. She was united in marriage to Donald Whitford on September 15, 1973 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington. Luanne lived in Darlington all of her life. Luanne worked as a Beautician for 8 years at Tryette Beauty Shoppe and later at the Lafayette Manor for 6 years. In 1994, she received an Activities Director degree from Madison, WI and worked as an Activities Assistant for a number of years at Lafayette Manor, retiring in 2008.
Luanne is survived by her husband Donald at home; three children Meegan Whitford of Darlington, Molly (Ryan) Johnson of Janesville, WI, and Brad Whitford of Darlington; three grandchildren Madeline Eaton, Brody and Taylor Whitford, and one on the way; four sisters Susan (Russ) Elzen of Darlington, Patricia Reichling of Madison, WI, Karen (Richard) Anderson of West Bend, WI, and Stacey (Stephen) Seffrood of Gratiot; two brothers F. John (Ann) Reichling and Jim (Mary Ann) Reichling both of Darlington; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one niece: Katherine Ann Reichling in infancy.
Luanne was a member of Darlington United Methodist Church, its Friendship Circle, and past president of its United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Relay for Life. Luanne enjoyed going for rides in her convertible, traveling with Donald, gambling, baking, spending time with her grandchildren, and helping anyone in need. She was a role model for her family and friends. Luanne will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Darlington United Methodist Church, 546 Main Street in Darlington with Rev. Randy Booth of Monroe United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Friday, October 26, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home, 508 Main Street in Darlington.
