Lois M. Hansen, age 91, of Monticello, died on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Azura Memory Care. Previously Lois had been living with her two daughters. She was born on April 1, 1923, in Fairbault, MN; the daughter of Arthur and Luella (Shipman) James and graduated from South Beloit High School in 1941. Lois and Fritz Hansen were married on June 5, 1954 in Chicago, IL.

Lois was an Art Teacher since 1965 in her own Studio and later at Blackhawk Tech, where she taught Oil's, Ceramic's and Rosemalling.

She served as president of the American Business Woman's Association; member of the Eastern Star; 4-H Leader for several years; was a member of the Beloit American Legion Auxiliary; and she also managed the Brodhead Senior Center. She enjoyed Quilting; but her biggest passion was her Art Work.

She is survived by her children: Donna Melton, of Brodhead; Luann (Jim) Sandlin of Monticello; Joy (Lon) Arnes of Argyle; brothers, Arthur (Yvonne) James Jr. of Beloit; Russell (Barb) James of Roscoe, IL; sister, Doris Earl of Roscoe, IL; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She is predeceased by her Husband, Fritz; son, Fritz L. Hansen; brothers, Donald and Norval; and grandson, Albert Sandlin.

Memorial Services will be Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 12:00 noon at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr., and N. 18th Avenue in Monroe, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 14th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon at the Funeral Home.
