A single-vehicle crash on Highway 60 two miles west of Boscobel occurred last Friday afternoon.

MONROE — On June 6:

♦  No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash at 7:55 a.m. on the westbound exit ramp for Wisconsin 69 south to Wis. 81 west in the Town of Monroe. Taylor M. Jacobsen, 22, Brodhead, was stopped at the stop sign when she was rear-ended by a vehicle operated by Samantha A. Messel, 19, Juda. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Jacobson’s vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. Messel’s vehicle sustained no damage and was driven from the scene. Messel was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and was released pending court.

♦  Injuries were reported for a tractor-versus-dump-truck crash at 3:48 p.m. in the N2300 block of County K in the Town of Clarno. A tractor operated by Thomas R. Klemm, 69, Monroe, was southbound, attempting to turn east into a driveway when a dump truck, operated by Matthew J. Baker, 36, Monroe, was passing in the northbound lane of traffic. Baker’s truck struck Klemm’s tractor. Baker’s truck sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. The tractor sustained disabling damage and remained on scene. Baker was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. Klemm’s tractor was not equipped with a seatbelt. Klemm was injured in the crash but declined medical attention. Klemm was cited for failure to display slow-moving vehicle emblem and was released pending court.


On June 8:

♦  A man was arrested during a two-vehicle crash with minor injuries at 6:36 p.m. in the W4200 block of Greenbush Road in the Town of Sylvester. Cory J. Valentino, 32, New Glarus, was westbound on Greenbush Road when he failed to negotiate a curve. Valentino’s vehicle crossed the centerline, entered the eastbound lane and sideswiped another vehicle operated by Joseph F. Phillips, 57, Monroe. Phillips reported minor injuries and was treated by EMTs at the scene but was not transported. Phillips and his passenger were wearing their seatbelts, and the airbags did not deploy. Valentino was not injured, he was wearing his seatbelt and the airbags did not deploy. Both vehicles sustained functional damage. Phillips’ vehicle was removed from the scene by a towing company, and Valentino’s vehicle was moved off the roadway to await removal at a later time. The investigation resulted in Valentino being arrested for resisting or obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of THC (marijuana). He was also cited for driving left of center and operating with a restricted controlled substance. Valentino was taken to the Green County Jail pending bond or court appearance. Green County EMS and Juda First response also responded.


On June 11:

♦  Injuries were reported during a motor vehicle crash where a driver left the scene at 3:36 a.m. in the W5900 block of Town Center Road in the Town of Clarno. An investigation revealed that around 11:30 p.m. June 10, Kevin A. Meinert, 34, Monroe, was eastbound when he reported that he swerved to avoid a deer in the road. Meinert’s truck left the road and struck a culvert. Meinert reported wearing his seat belt. Meinert’s truck had severe damage and was towed. Meinert was cited for failure to notify law enforcement of a crash and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle. Meinert was released pending court.


On June 13:

♦  A motor vehicle crash with injuries was reported at 7:47 a.m. at the interchange of Wis. 81 westbound and Wis. 69 south. Shaun P. Cox, 35, Monroe, was eastbound on Wis. 81 heading into the city of Monroe when he collided with a vehicle operated by Roger A. Sutter, 58, Monroe. Roger stated he was making a left turn after crossing over the bridge onto Wis. 11 westbound when he got hit by the Cox vehicle. Both vehicles were towed from the scene after sustaining functional damage. Both vehicles also had airbag deployments and both drivers indicated that they were wearing seatbelts. Cox was transported by an ambulance for non-life threatening injuries stemming from the crash. Roger was issued a citation for inattentive driving and released with a court date. Monroe Fire and Monroe EMS also responded.

♦  No injuries were reported during a two-vehicle crash at 6:25 p.m. on Wis. 104 north of Wis. 11 in the Town of Decatur. A dump truck operated by William C. Day, 38, Brodhead, was southbound on Wis. 104 when a passenger car in front of him abruptly slowed and turned into a driveway. This caused Day to brake heavily. A vehicle operated by Gleason K. Weichelt, 35, Brodhead, was traveling southbound behind Day.  Weichelt observed Day braking and attempted to take evasive action. Weichelt collided with the rear of Day’s dump truck. Weichelt was not injured; his seatbelt was used and the airbag did not deploy.  His vehicle sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene. Day was not injured; his seatbelt was used and the airbag did not deploy.  The dump truck did not sustain damage and was driven from the scene.  No citations were issued.
