ACCIDENT
A one-vehicle rollover accident occurred on CTH XX on Oct. 16.

MONROE — On July 11:

•  No injuries were reported during a two-vehicle crash at 9:58 a.m. at the intersection of Wis. 69 and 11th Street in Monroe. Stephanie M. Larson, 52, Monroe, was stopped at the stop sign on 11th Street and Wis. 69. Larson attempted to go eastbound when she collided with a City of Monroe Public Works truck operated by Thomas J. Boll, 53, Monroe. Neither driver was injured in the crash. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene. The air bags did not deploy in either vehicle. Larson was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign and was released pending court.

•  No injuries were reported during a two-vehicle crash at 3:10 p.m. in the W2600 block of Wis. 92 in the Town of Exeter. James P. Remer, 68, Mount Horeb, was eastbound on Wis. 92 and was slowing down for a tractor when he was rear-ended by a vehicle operated by Robert A. Brewster Jr, 25, Janesville. Remer’s vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene. Brewster’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and remained on scene. Brewster was cited for inattentive driving and operating a motor vehicle without insurance and was released pending court.


On July 12:

•  No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash at 11:15 a.m. on the W6700 block of Wis. 11, Monroe. Derrick N. Ritschard, 17, Monroe, was traveling westbound on Wis. 11 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.  The vehicle then entered the gravel shoulder and went into a ditch and struck a fence. A passenger in the vehicle, Rhylan S. Morgan, 19, Monroe, reported that he was wearing his seat belt and was not injured.  The vehicle sustained minor damage and the airbags did not deploy.  The vehicle was driven from the scene. Ritschard was cited for Failure to Maintain Control of Vehicle and was released pending a court appearance.  

•  Two men were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:22 p.m.  at the N7100 block of Wis. 104, Albany. Evan R. Larsen, 34, Evansville, was traveling southbound on Wis. 104 and was slowing down to make a right turn into a driveway.  At this time, a second vehicle that was operated by Joseph A. Coglianese, 38, Brodhead, was traveling southbound on Wis. 104 behind Larsen’s vehicle and failed to slow down and struck the vehicle.    Larsen’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was left at the scene. Both were wearing their seatbelts.Coglianese’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Coglianese was cited for failure to keep vehicle under control and was released pending a court appearance.   

•  No injuries were reported in a one-vehicle crash at 7:28 p.m. at the N2000 block of Five Corner Road, Town of Jefferson. Mathew P. Wilhelms, 38, Monroe, was traveling southbound on Five Corner Road when his vehicle struck a large depression in the roadway, causing the vehicle to lose control.  The vehicle then collided with a guard rail. Wilhelms was not wearing his seatbelt. The vehicle sustained damage and was driven from the scene.  Two juvenile passengers were in the vehicle at the time of the crash and were not injured.  Both juveniles were properly restrained in child safety seats.  

•  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 3:28 am. Saturday, July 14, on County N south of County C, Town of Washington. Deputies located the vehicle in the west ditch of the N6200 block of County N. Stephanie R. Hoover, 27, Madison, was in the vehicle and immediately advised deputies she was not the driver and that no one involved in the accident was injured but she was not forthcoming with any other information. Investigation revealed the vehicle was southbound on County N when it went off the road. The driver attempted to drive the vehicle out of the ditch and in the process hit a flagpole. Hoover was cited for hit-and-run on property adjacent to a highway, owner’s liability, and released to a responsible party. The vehicle was towed.


On July 15:

•  Injuries were reported during a one-vehicle crash at 11:43 p.m. in the N4800 block of Wis. 104 in the Town of Decatur. Christopher R. Phillips, 28, Brodhead, was southbound when he reported that he swerved to avoid some deer in the road. Phillips’ vehicle left the road and collided with a mailbox. Phillips then crossed the center line, where the vehicle overturned. Phillips was transported by EMS to the Monroe ER. The vehicle had severe damage and was towed. The Brodhead Police Department and Rock County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.Brodhead Fire and Brodhead EMS also responded. 

•  A one-vehicle crash with injuries where the driver left the scene July 14 was reported at 4:58 a.m. in the N9500 block of Argue Road in New Glarus. The driver was later identified as Nicholas J. Segebrecht, 35, Belleville. Segebrecht was northbound when he reported that he fell asleep. Segebrecht’s vehicle entered the ditch, where it struck a tree. Segebrecht then left the scene of the crash. Segebrecht was injured in the crash. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed. Segebrecht was cited for inattentive driving and failure to keep vehicle under control. He was released pending court.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On July 11:

•  No injuries were reported when Geraldine A Cooley, 62, Cuba City, struck a deer at 5:27 a.m. on Bean Street Road, New Diggings Township. Cooley’s 2010 Toyota sustained moderate damage and was driven from the scene.
