Monroe Police

MONROE — No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle crash at 4:40 p.m. Aug. 20 in the 800 block of 25th Avenue. Joyce E. Binder, 86, Monticello, collided with a legally parked vehicle. There were moderate vehicle damages. Binder’s vehicle was towed. She was cited for inattentive driving.

●  No injuries were reported from a two-vehicle crash at 11:58 a.m. Aug. 21 on the eastbound off-ramp at Wis. 11 and North 18th Avenue. Cindy L. Gudel, 56, Monticello, collided with a vehicle driven by a Monroe man, 56, who was stopped at a stop sign. Gudel’s vehicle sustained moderate damage. The other vehicle sustained minor damage. Gudel was cited for following too closely.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — A two-vehicle crash was reported at 2:59 p.m. Aug. 20 in the Town of Albany. Sydney N. Schumacher, 16, Waunakee, was traveling on Bump Road, stopped at the stop sign at Wis. 104 and drove onto Wis. 104. She collided with a southbound vehicle on Wis. 104 driven by Amanda R. Vernia, 33, Brooklyn. Vernia sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Her passengers were not injured. Her vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed. Schumacher and her passenger were not injured. The vehicle sustained disabling damage, with airbag deployment. It was towed. Schumacher was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign.

On Aug. 22:

●  Briana M. Maaske, 22, Monroe, was transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER with non-life threatening injuries from a one-vehicle crash reported at 2 p.m. in the W6300 block of County Y, Town of Monroe. She was eastbound when she lost control of her vehicle, entered the ditch and overturned. The vehicle went airborne and collided with a power pole. Maaske was not wearing her seatbelt. The vehicle sustained severe damage. It was towed. The Monroe Fire Department assisted deputies. Alliant Energy repaired the power pole. Citations against Maaske are pending.

●  No injuries were reported from a one-vehicle crash at 8:57 p.m. on County N and Dividing Ridge Road, Town of Washington. Michael R. Fricks, 31, Monroe, was northbound behind a tractor pulling a trailer. He attempted to pass the tractor at the time the tractor was turning left onto Dividing Ridge Road. Fricks then swerved to avoid hitting the tractor and his vehicle entered the ditch. It sustained severe damage and was towed. The tractor and trailer were undamaged. Fricks was cited no vehicle insurance.

On Aug. 23:

●  A two-vehicle crash with injuries was reported at 5:34 p.m. on Wis. 11 and County S, Town of Jefferson. Michael V. Kammes, 57, Juda, was northbound on County S when he continued through the intersection with Wis. 11 and collided with an eastbound vehicle on Wis. 11 driven by Jacob A. Blocker, 21, Davis, Illinois. Blocker and his two passengers and Kammes all sustained non-life threatening injuries. They were transported by Green County EMS to the Monroe Clinic ER.  Both vehicles sustained disabling damage, with airbag deployment, and were towed. Kammes was cited for failure to yield right-of-way from a stop sign. The Juda Fire Department assisted deputies on scene.

●  Downed power lines in the roadway were reported at 9:52 p.m. at County C and Marshall Bluff Road, Town of Mount Pleasant. Investigation revealed a vehicle was westbound on County C when it went off the road and hit a power pole, causing damage to the pole and power lines to fall onto the road. The driver of the vehicle then fled and was not located. Vehicle parts that were white in color were located, but none were distinguishing. Alliant Energy repaired the pole and lines. The Monticello Fire Department assisted deputies on scene.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Aug. 8:

●  A deputy assisted the Department of Natural Resources with an ATV accident at 1:59 p.m. on Parkinson Road, Town of Darlington
