Green County Sheriff

On May 24:

● At approximately 4:53 p.m. Deputies along with Monroe Rural Fire Department and Green County EMS responded to the N4700 block of State Highway 69, Town of Monroe, for a report of a single vehicle accident with unknown injuries. Investigations found the driver, Severiana V Huertero-Morales, 57, of Monroe, was southbound when she attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway. Huertero-Morales entered the West ditch and collided with a culvert. Huertero-Morales sustained injuries as a result of the crash. Huertero-Morales reported wearing her seatbelt and the airbags did deploy. Huertero-Morales’ vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

On May 25:

● At 2:08 p.m., Deputies responded to the 2841 6th St, City of Monroe, to take custody of Dakota C Lorenz, 30, of Monroe, on a probation warrant.

On May 26:

● At approximately 4:43 p.m. Deputies responded to the N3200 blk of Monroe-Sylvester Rd., Town of Monroe. Investigation determined a northbound vehicle being operated by Madison Scace, 22 of Lena, IL, attempted to turn west when she was struck by a southbound vehicle being operated by Randy A. Spotts, 38 of Monroe. Randy was not injured, reported wearing his seatbelt and drove his vehicle from the scene. Madison reported not being injured wearing her seatbelt and had her vehicle towed from the scene due to disabling damage.

● At approximately 4:49 p.m. Deputies responded to the W2600 blk of STH 11, Town of Jefferson, for a report of a hit and run crash in a parking lot. Investigation determined the operator of the vehicle, Blake Adkins, 16, was backing out of a stall when he collided with another vehicle and then left the scene. There were no injuries and the second vehicle was unoccupied. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. Blake was subsequently issued a citation for Failure to Report a Crash to Law Enforcement.

● At approximately 9:06 p.m., Deputies, Juda First Response, the Juda Fire department, and Green County EMS responded to the N1300 block of CTH S, Town of Jefferson, for a report of a single vehicle rollover crash with unknown injury. Investigation determined a southbound vehicle being operated by Lydia Alt, 17, drifted across the roadway and entered the east shoulder. Lydia steered the vehicle back to the roadway, over-corrected and re-entered the east ditch line. The vehicle then struck an embankment and rolled onto its side and then rolled back onto its wheels. Lydia reported wearing her seatbelt and not being injured. The vehicle sustained disabling damage with no airbag deployment and was towed from the scene.

On May 27:

● At approximately 8:35 a.m., Deputies responded to the intersection of CTH KS and Twin Grove Rd., Town of Jefferson, for a report of a two vehicle crash with injury. Investigation determined Melissa L. Kantola, 43 of Kenosha, was traveling northbound on Twin Grove Rd. when she failed to yield to the right of way at the yield sign at the intersection of CTH KS. Melissa’s vehicle collided with a westbound vehicle being driven by John E. Scheid, 38 of Monroe. Melissa and her three passengers all reported wearing their seatbelts and Melissa sustained minor injury. The vehicle sustained disabling damage with airbag deployment and was towed from the scene. John reported wearing his seatbelt and sustained minor injuries. John’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. Melissa was subsequently issued a citation for Failure to Yield. 

● At approximately 3:56 p.m., Deputies responded to the N8100 blk of STH 104, Town of Brooklyn, for a report of a single vehicle crash. Upon Deputies arrival, it was learned that the operator, Randy W. Seavert, 44 of Evansville, had fled the scene on foot. Investigation revealed that Randy was northbound on STH 104 when he attempted to pass a vehicle. Randy’s vehicle continued across the centerline into the southbound lane, entered the west ditch and struck an embankment. Deputies later attempted contact with Randy at his home, but he refused to come to the door. Citations are pending at this time and there are no known injuries. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. 

● At approximately 10:46 p.m. Deputies, Green County EMS, Albany EMS, and the Albany First Response, responded to the W2300 blk of STH 59, Town of Decatur, for a report of a motorcycle crash with injury. Investigation determined the operator, Clinton A.L. Cockroft, 50 of Monroe, was traveling south on STH 59 when a deer entered the roadway, striking the motorcycle. The motorcycle spun sideways into the west ditch, ejecting Clinton and his passenger, Sara J. Cockroft, 47 of Monroe. Clinton was not wearing a helmet and sustained severe, non- life-threatening injury and was transported from the scene by ambulance. Sara was wearing a helmet and sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported from the scene by ambulance. The motorcycle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. 


Lafayette County Sheriff


On May 26:

● 7:35 p.m. Laney E. Finkelmeyer, 20, Mineral Point was traveling on Tibbits RD, Willow Springs Township when she lost control of her truck, left the roadway, struck a culvert and utility pole, before coming to a stop in a nearby field. Finkelmeyer reported no injuries. Finkelmeyer’s truck received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

● 9:37 p.m. Thomas D. Reichling, 63, Darlington was cited for Operating a UTV While Under the Influence of Intoxicant 2nd Offense within 5 Years and Littering on Center Hill RD, Darlington Township.

On May 27:

● 7:07 p.m. A deputy responded to CTH W, New Diggings Township for explosives.

● 8:59 p.m. Thomas J. Maas, 39, Argyle reported striking a deer on CTH G, Argyle Township. Maas’ 2020 Ford received moderate damage and was driven from the scene. 

● 9:04 p.m. Brittnee C. Smith, 31, Monroe reported striking a deer on STH 11, Wayne Township. Smith’s 2015 Dodge received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 9:14 p.m.  Federico Hernandez-Mateos, 47, La Salle, Ill. reported striking a deer on CTH XX, Belmont Township. Hernandez-Mateos’ 2022 Honda received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.  

On May 28:

● 6:12 a.m. Kayla J. Youngs, 30, Platteville reported striking a deer on USH 151, Belmont Township. Youngs reported no injuries. Youngs’ 2021 Chevrolet received disabling damage and was towed from the scene.
