Green County Sheriff

On June 25:

● At approximately 2:45 AM, Deputies responded to W1000 block of Cottage Rd., Town of Decatur, for a report of a verbal altercation between two parties.  Investigation resulted in Dustin J. Garwell, 36 of Brodhead, being placed under arrest for Disorderly Conduct falling under the Wisconsin Domestic Abuse laws. Dustin was booked at the Green County Jail and released to a responsible party with a future court date. 

 On June 26:

● At approximately 2:54 PM, Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the W5200 block of State Highway 11, Town of Monroe. The investigation resulted in the operator, Randolph I. Berger, 42 of Beloit, being cited for Possession of THC — Less than 25 Grams and for speeding, 83 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Randolph was released pending a future court appearance.

 On June 27:

● At approximately 2:11 PM, Deputies arrested Daniel Garcia Itehua, 29, of Monroe, who had an active warrant through the Iowa County Sheriff’s Office. Garcia Itehua was incarcerated at the Green County Jail.

On June 29:

● At approximately 9:54 a.m., Scott W Bartosik, 64, of Monroe, was arrested for a Wisconsin Community Corrections warrant. Bartosik was incarcerated at the Green County Jail.

● At approximately 4:08 p.m., Peter J Knutson,43, of Monroe, was arrested for a probation warrant. Knutson was incarcerated at the Green County Jail.

On July 2:

● At 3:17 AM, Deputies stopped a vehicle in the W2300 block of State Highway 11, Town of Spring Grove, for speeding. Investigations resulted in the driver, Priest G.G. Williams, 48, of Janesville, being cited for Operating after Revocation and Failure to Install an Ignition Interlock Device. 

● At 2:30 PM, Deputies responded to the W5200 block of Round Grove Rd, Town of Monroe, for a report of a bucket truck striking a bridge. Investigations found the driver, Todd J Richard, 31, of Lancaster, was driving the vehicle when he misjudged the height of the bridge. As a result the boom/bucket struck the bridge. Richard denied injury, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. Richard’s vehicle sustained functional damage and was driven from the scene. 

● The Badger State Trail bridge sustained severe damage resulting in bridge and road closures. The WI DNR, Monroe Township, and Green County Highway Department assisted with the investigation

On July 3:

● At approximately 6:45 PM, Deputies responded to the N4500 block of County Highway E, Town of Decatur, for a report of a single vehicle accident.All occupants denied injury, reported wearing their seatbelts, and no airbag deployment. The vehicle sustained functional damage. As a result of the investigation the driver, Raqqim M Bradley, 25, of Janesville, was arrested for operating while under the influence (1st offense). Bradley was released to a responsible party.

On July 4:

● At approximately 5:23 PM, Deputies were informed a of a motorcycle crash with injury that occurred on at approximately 9:21 PM that was not reported. The crash occurred in the N2400 block of County Highway GG, Town of Spring Grove. Investigation revealed the operator, Jason D. Covert, 38 of Juda, was traveling south on CTH GG when a deer entered the roadway. Jason swerved to miss the deer and entered the west ditch causing him to go airborne. Jason then collided with a wire box on the side of the roadway and was ejected from the motorcycle. Jason was not wearing a helmet and sustained non-life threatening injuries. Jason was ultimately cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Failure to Report a Crash to Law Enforcement. Jason was issued the citations with a future court date.  

On July 5:

● Corrected Information Motorcycle Crash with Injury — At approximately 5:23 PM, Deputies were informed a of a motorcycle crash with injury that occurred on at approximately 9:21 PM that was not reported. The crash occurred in the N2400 block of County Highway GG, Town of Spring Grove. Investigation revealed the operator, Jacob R. Covert, 31 of Brodhead, was traveling south on CTH GG when a deer entered the roadway. Jacob swerved to miss the deer and entered the west ditch causing him to go airborne. Jacob then collided with a wire box on the side of the roadway and was ejected from the motorcycle. Jacob was not wearing a helmet and sustained non-life threatening injuries. Jacob was ultimately cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Failure to Report a Crash to Law Enforcement. Jacob was issued the citations with a future court date.

On July 6:

● At approximately 7:10 AM, Deputies along with the Green County Highway Department and New Glarus Police Department responded to the W6400 block of County Highway H, Town of New Glarus, for a report of a single vehicle accident.Investigations found that a vehicle operated by Austin Nimtz, 18, of New Glarus, was negotiating a curve while eastbound on County Highway H. Nimtz’s vehicle entered a portion of the roadway covered in mud and lost control of his vehicle striking a sign. Nimtz reported no injuries, reported wearing his seatbelt, and no airbag deployment. Nimtz’s vehicle sustained minor damages and was driven from the scene.

On July 12:

On July 2:

● At approximately 1:35 PM, Deputies were assisting a driver with vehicle issues in the W3000 block of State Highway 11, Town of Jefferson. Investigation resulted in the operator, Ryan M. Link, 31 of Edgerton, being cited for Operating After Revocation due to OWI. Ryan was released pending a future court appearance

On July 6:

● At approximately 7:10 AM, Deputies along with the Green County Highway Department and New Glarus Police Department responded to the W6400 block of County Highway H, Town of New Glarus, for a report of a single vehicle accident.Investigations found that a vehicle operated by Austin Nimtz, 18, of New Glarus, was negotiating a curve while eastbound on County Highway H. On July 12:

● At approximately 3:14 p.m., Deputies and Green County EMS responded to the N5100 block of State Highway 69, Town of Washington, for a report of a motor vehicle crash with injury. Investigation revealed the operator, Matthew W. Scott, 16, was traveling north and was attempting to go around a vehicle making a right turn. This caused a southbound vehicle that was in the vicinity to go into the westbound gravel shoulder of the roadway to avoid crashing into Matthew. The gravel was thrown into Matthew’s vehicle, shattering the glass on the driver’s side view mirror. The broken glass entered Matthew’s open driver’s side window, causing him to sustain minor injuries.  

Matthew was evaluated by EMS for minor injuries and was not transported. Matthew reported wearing his seatbelt and there was no airbag deployment. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was driven from the scene by Matthew.  

On July 14:

● At approximately 9:17 AM, Deputies and the New Glarus Fire Department responded to the intersection of Postville Rd. and County Highway H, Town of York, for a report of a controlled burn that was not reported. Due to actions taken on scene by the individual responsible for the controlled burn, John S. Otteman, 74 of Dodgeville, he was cited for Disorderly Conduct. John was released with a future court date.  

On July 16:

● At approximately 2:17 AM, Deputies responded to the W1900 block of State Highway 92, Town of Brooklyn, for a report of a single vehicle accident. Investigations found that the driver, Donald A Anderson, 54, of Evansville, was eastbound when a turkey entered the roadway. Anderson reported taking evasive action, entered the South ditch and struck a culvert marker, a fence, and tree. Anderson and his passenger reported no injuries, reported wearing their seatbelts, and there was airbag deployment. As a result of the collision, Anderson’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and arrangements were made for removal. Anderson was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and released with a court date.

On July 17:

● At approximately 5:11 p.m., Deputies responded to the N4600 block of CTH E, Town of Decatur, for a report of a disorderly individual. Investigations resulted in Maggie M Salzwedel, 36, of Brodhead, being arrested for disorderly conduct. Salzwedel was transported to the Green County Jail where she was later released to a responsible party.


Brodhead Police Dept.

On July 10:

● 12:24a.m., Police responded to the 1200 block of E 6th Ave. for the report of Damage to Property; a mailbox was damaged. This matter remains under investigation. 

● 1:50 a.m., a 30 year old Brodhead man was cited in the 1500 block of W 7th Ave. for Possession of Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle. 

● 3:16 a.m., Police responded to the 600 block of 1st Center Ave. for the report of a Domestic Problem; subjects involved in a verbal altercation. Contact was made and the matter was resolved.   

● 8:40 a.m., Police responded to the 900 block of E 5th Ave. for the report of a runaway. The juvenile was locatedand returned to a responsible party. 

● 2:39 p.m., a 69 year old Brodhead woman was cited in the 500 block of 1st Center Ave. for Obstructing an Officer. 

● 2:59 p.m., Police responded to the 400 block of W 3rd Ave. for the report of Littering; subjects breaking bottles at the park playground. Contact was made and the area was cleaned up. 

● 4:04 p.m., a juvenile was cited in the 400 block of W 3rd Ave. for an Underage Alcohol Violation. 

On July 11:

● 10:00 a.m., Police responded to the 500 block of 1st Center Ave. for the report of a Code Violation; a subject residing in a trailer on the property. Contact was made and a warning was issued.  

● 12:37 p.m., Police responded to the 900 block of 3rd St. for the report of a Traffic Crash; a tow truck struck a parked vehicle. No citations were issued. 

● 8:38 p.m., Police responded to the 1000 block of 21st St. for the report of Disorderly Conduct; subject receiving unwanted messages. Contact was made and a warning was issued. 


Monticello Police

On July 8:

● At approximately 12:55 a.m., A citizen came into the police department to report a motor vehicle crash.  The crash happened outside of the village.  The citizen was referred to the appropriate law enforcement agency. 

● At approximately 1:15 p.m., Officers were contacted in reference to a found cell phone.  The phones owner was identified. The cell phone was returned to its owner. 

● At approximately 4:17 p.m., Officers received a disorderly conducted complaint that had occurred in the 100 block of N. Main Street.  The suspect was identified and the matter was resolved. 

● At approximately 6:49 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation in the area of State Hwy 69 and W. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Kodi S. Ellefson Jones, 23, of Monroe was cited for illegal window tinting.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 9:45 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation on N. Main Street at E. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Rafael Juan Hernandez Martinez, 22, of Monroe was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 10:20 p.m., Officers had some found property turned into them in the 100 block of N. Monroe Street.  The owner was located and the property was returned. 

On July 9:

● At approximately 9:33 a.m., Officers had some found property turned into them in the 200 block of E. Park Avenue.  The owner was located and the property was returned. 

● At approximately 5:59 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation on State Hwy 69 at W. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Brady N. Smith, 19, of Monroe was cited for illegal window tinting, open intoxicants in a motor vehicle, and underage person transporting intoxicants in a motor vehicle.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 9:18 p.m., Offices conducted traffic control on E. Lake Avenue and N. Main Street for the fireworks display. 

● At approximately 9:26 p.m., Officers assisted a citizen with locating their vehicle after forgetting where they had parked it.  The vehicle was located. 

● At approximately 10:23 p.m., Officers received a parking complaint in the 200 block of State Hwy 69.  The vehicles owner was contacted and the vehicle was parked legally a short time later. 

● At approximately 11:55 p.m., Officers received a report of an underage male and underage female consuming intoxicants at the beer tent.  Officers located both the male and female.  As a result, Robert E. Schroeder, 19 of Albany was cited underage possess/consumption of intoxicants.  A female underage the age of 18 was identified, but was with their parent.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty

On July 10:

● At approximately 12:07 a.m., Officers responded to the 400 block of Washington Street for a vehicle unlock.  The vehicle was unlocked without incident. 

● At approximately 12:55 a.m., Officers received a theft report from the beer tent.  It was reported that someone had stolen a golf cart that was being used by beer tent staff.  Officers were able to locate the golf cart and the person driving it.  The golf cart had crashed into bench and a light pole.  The driver/suspect was taken into custody and transported to the police department.  The incident remains under investigation and charges are being referred to the District Attorney’s Office.

● At approximately 1:14 p.m., Officers located an illegally parked vehicle in the 600 block of E. Lake Avenue.  The vehicles owner was contacted and the vehicle was removed. 

● At approximately 5:52 p.m., Officers along with Green County EMS and Monticello Fire First Response responded to the 300 block of E. Coates Avenue for a report of a female that was bitten by a dog.  As a result of an investigation into the incident. Green County Health Department bite order paperwork was completed. The investigation is ongoing. 

● At approximately 6:41 p.m., Officers were contacted in reference to a found item in the 400 block of N. Main Street.  Officers took custody of the item, a rolled-up baggie with a green leafy substance in it, and placed it into evidence.  If you have lost such an item, contact the Monticello Police Department to claim it.  

● At approximately 12:37 a.m., Officers checked on a vehicle parked in the 100 block of E. Lake Avenue.  The vehicle was unoccupied and the vehicles audible alarm was going off.  Everything appeared to okay with the vehicle.


LAFAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF

On June 21:

● 3:19 PM A deputy responded to STH 78, Argyle Township for a one vehicle accident. Zachary J Orr, 24, Waupaca was traveling on STH 78 when he lost control of his vehicle causing the vehicle to exit the roadway and enter the ditch.  Orr’s 2006 Buick received moderate damage and was towed from the scene. Argyle Police Department, Argyle Fire Department and Argyle EMS assisted on scene.  

● 4:14 PM A deputy responded to Sunnydale Rd, Belmont Township for a theft complaint.

● 7:38 PM Benton Fire Department responded to CTH W, New Diggings Township for a utility problem.

● 7:41 PM A deputy responded to STH 11, Wayne Township for a traffic hazard.

● 7:53 PM A deputy responded to Mineral Rd, Seymour Township for a traffic hazard. 

● 8:27 PM A deputy responded to STH 11, Village of South Wayne for a traffic complaint of an erratic driver.

● 9:18 PM A deputy responded to Red Rock Rd, Darlington Township for a traffic hazard.

On June 22

● 1:34 AM Logan W Berry, 17, Hazel Green was cited for Speeding, GDL Violation, and Absolute Sobriety on USH 151, Belmont Township.

● 7:43 AM A deputy responded to STH 11 in the Village of South Wayne for an abandoned vehicle.

● 11:38 AM A deputy responded to CTH G, Belmont Township for an injured deer.

● 12:25 PM Lafayette County EMS responded to E Catherine ST in the City of Darlington for a medical emergency. Darlington Police assisted on scene.

● 1:20 PM A deputy responded to Dunbarton RD, Shullsburg Township for theft. Edwin G Ramos-Castaneada, 21, and Gloria E Mendoza, 18, both of Darlington were arrested for Theft and transported to the Lafayette County Jail where they were booked and released.

● 1:54 PM A deputy responded to CTH G, Belmont Township for livestock on the roadway.

● 3:19 PM A deputy responded to CTH M, Wiota Township for illegal burning.

● 6:08 PM Bruce W Hess, 16, Warren, IL was cited for Speeding on CTH W, New Diggings Township.

● 6:42 PM A deputy responded to CTH M, Wiota Township for livestock on the roadway.

On June 23:

● 4:06 AM Coleen R Harris, 58, Blanchardville reported striking a deer on CTH F, Blanchard Township. No injuries were reported and Harris’s 2016 Kia received moderate damage and was driven from the scene.

● 7:12 AM A deputy responded to E Water ST in the City of Shullsburg for check welfare.

● 11:56 AM A deputy responded to Holland RD, Kendall Township for harassment.

On June 23:

● 1:52 PM Lafayette County EMS responded to E Mary ST in the City for a medical emergency. Darlington Police and deputies assisted on scene.

● 2:07 PM Belmont Fire responded to USH 151, Belmont Township for a grass fire.

● 2:57 PM Lafayette County EMS responded to E Louisa ST in the City for a medical emergency. Darlington Police assisted on scene.

● 6:17 PM Blanchardville EMS responded to Madison ST in the Village for a medical emergency. Blanchardville Police assisted on scene.

On June 24:

● 1:44 AM Deputies responded to Noble St, Village of Gratiot for a check welfare.

● 12:31 PM Lafayette County EMS responded to Main St, City of Darlington for a medical emergency.

● 5:19 PM A deputy encountered a disabled vehicle on Gun Club Rd, Darlington Township.

● 7:16 PM A deputy responded to Holland Rd, Belmont Township for a check welfare.

● 8:05 PM Blanchardville EMS responded to E Hill St, Village of Blanchardville for a medical emergency.  Blanchardville Police Department assisted on scene.

● 9:06 PM A deputy responded to Spruce St, Village of Argyle for a 911 misdial.

● 10:37 PM Jose M Lanza-Salgado, 38, Darlington was cited for Non-Registration on W Mound View Av, Village of Belmont.  Charges for Operating while Revoked will be referred to the District Attorney. 

On June 25:

● 12:05 AM Lafayette County EMS responded to Wood Rd, Darlington Township for a medical emergency.   Deputy assisted on scene.

● 1:26 AM A deputy responded to N State St, Village of Argyle for an ATV complaint.  

● 5:43 PM Jenefer L Burchette, 52, Blanchardville, reported striking a deer on STH 78, Argyle Township.  Burchette’s 2018 Honda received minor damage and was towed from the scene.

● 9:20 PM Lafayette County EMS responded to E Catherine St, City of Darlington for a medical emergency.

● 9:28 PM Gabriel M Mennig-Inman, 18, Platteville was cited for Speeding on E Platteville Av, Village of Belmont. 

● 9:41 PM A deputy responded to Short Cut Rd, Willow Springs Township for a traffic complaint.

On June 26

● 12:31 AM A deputy responded to Galena St, City of Darlington to assist the Darlington Police Department with a noise complaint.

● 4:44 AM A deputy responded to W Mound View Av, Village of Belmont to assist the Belmont Police Department with a check welfare.

● 10:07 AM Belmont EMS responded to Lake Joy Ln, Belmont Township for a medical emergency.  Southwest Health EMS assisted on scene. 

● 10:24 AM A deputy responded to Carr Factory Rd, Benton Township for an animal bite.

● 11:39 AM Lafayette County EMS responded to Galena St, City of Darlington for a medical emergency.

● 11:43 AM A deputy responded to STH 78, Argyle Township for an animal bite.

● 1:38 PM Benton First Response and Hazel Green EMS responded to Alma St, Village of Benton for a medical emergency.  A deputy assisted on scene.

● 2:23 PM A deputy responded to Bonner Rd, Belmont Township for a check welfare. 

● 3:58 PM A deputy responded to Whiteside Rd, Argyle Township for an animal bite.

● 4:31 PM A deputy responded to E Main St, Village of Benton for a theft complaint.

● 4:51 PM A deputy responded to CTH H, Benton Township for a civil dispute. 

● 4:57 PM Blanchardville EMS responded to Center St, Village of Blanchardville for a medical emergency.

● 5:36 PM A deputy responded to W Mound View Av, Village of Belmont for a 911 misdial.

● 8:13 PM Robert D Steder, 68, Palatine IL was cited for Speeding on STH 81, Seymour Township. 

On June 27:

● 3:01 AM A deputy assisted Darlington Police on Eliza ST in the City for a lift assist.

● 8:01 AM A deputy responded to CTH F, Fayette Township for livestock on the roadway.

● 12:08 PM A deputy responded to STH 11 in the Village of South Wayne for a minor two vehicle accident. Kevin L Leverton, 59, South Wayne was backing his 2005 Chevy from the pumps at the South Wayne Mart at the same time Mitchell E. Pederson was also backing his 2013 Volkswagen.  Neither driver noticed the other, and collided.  Both vehicles were driven from the scene with moderate damage.  No injuries were reported. 

● 1:14 PM Mineral Point Fire and EMS responded to CTH O, Kendall Township for a two vehicle accident. Aidan D Keyes, 17, Brooklyn was traveling northbound in a 2016 Chevrolet when he crossed the centerline and struck a 2016 Ford, being driven by Anne M Denure, 59, Darlington. Keyes denied EMS and Denure was transported to the hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene with severe damage.

● 3:14 PM Woodford First and Argyle EMS responded to CTH Y, Wiota Township for a medical emergency. A deputy assisted on scene.

● 3:23 PM A deputy responded to 2nd ST, Wiota Township for an alarm.

● 6:06 PM A deputy responded to STH 23, Willow Springs Township for a traffic hazard.

● 6:54 PM A deputy responded to Ames RD, Darlington Township for a juvenile problem. Darlington Police assisted on scene.

● 7:25 PM A deputy responded to CTH DD, Wayne Township for livestock on the roadway.

● 9:22 PM A deputy responded to CTH D, Wayne Township for check welfare.

● 10:59 PM Belmont EMS responded to Oak Park RD, Kendall Township for a medical emergency. Belmont Police assisted on scene.

● 11:10 PM Darlington Fire responded to Center DR in the City for a fire alarm. Darlington Police and a deputy assisted.

On June 28:

● 1:36 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH Z, Darlington Township for livestock on the roadway.

● 7:17 a.m. Belmont EMS responded to Shea DR in the Village for a medical emergency. Belmont Police and Southwest Health EMS assisted on scene.

● 4:43 p.m. A deputy responded to S Galena ST in the Village of South Wayne for illegal burning.

● 9:19 p.m. Brandon C Hardt, 19, Darlington reported striking a deer on CTH F, Darlington Township. No injuries were reported and Hardt’s 2003 Pontiac was towed from the scene with severe damage.

● 11:41 p.m. Wyat L Bredeson, 19, Darlington was cited for Speeding and Operating after Suspension on S Lafayette ST in the Village of Argyle.

On June 29:

● 1:41 a.m. A deputy responded to CTH D, Fayette Township for livestock on the roadway.

● 3:56 a.m. Deputies responded to W Union St, City of Shullsburg for a disorderly conduct complaint. 

● 4:25a.m. A deputy responded to Center St, Village of Argyle for a citizen assist. 

6:40 a.m. A deputy responded to Palfrey Rd, Shullsburg Township for a trespassing complaint.
