Monticello Police

On Dec. 3:

● At approximately 10:50 a.m., Officers received a suspicious activity complaint in the 100 block of S. Main Street.  A resident received a phone call that was a scam.  No information was given to the caller.

● At approximately 6:58 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation on Madison Street at E. Coates Avenue.  As a result of the traffic stop, Kalyn M. Lackey, 24, of Monticello was cited for Driving Down a One-Way Street in the Opposite Direction.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 9:39 p.m., Officers conducted a traffic stop for an observed traffic violation on W. Coates Avenue at Washington Street.  As a result of the traffic stop, Guadalupe Ramirez Carmona, 53, of Belleville was cited for Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid Drivers License.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

On Dec. 4:

● At approximately 12:09 a.m., Officers received a parking complaint in the 100 block of E. Highland Avenue.  It was reported that a vehicle was parked facing the wrong way on the wrong side of the street.  A parking citation for Parking in a Direction Different than the Traffic Flow was issued. There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

On Dec 5:

● At approximately 11:12 a.m., Officers received a fraud complaint in the 300 block of E. Park Avenue.  A citizen reported that a scam claiming to be Microsoft had contacted them to configure things on a home computer.  No loss was reported.  

● At approximately 1:16 p.m., Officers were contacted by the recycling center staff in the 400 block of N. Main Street.  This was in regards to illegal dumping of garbage at the recycling center.  A citizen was given a warning for this.  

At approximately 3:31 p.m., Officers were contacted in reference to a civil landlord/tenant dispute in the 100 block of E. Lake Avenue.  The caller was advised to contact an attorney.  

On Dec 6:

● At approximately 9:00 a.m., Officers were contacted by the Monticello School District in reference to a truancy issue.  The matter is being looked in to.

● At approximately 9:01 a.m., Officers were contacted by the Monticello School District in reference to a truancy issue.  The matter is being looked in to. 

● At approximately 12:04 p.m., Officers issued a parking citation in the 500 block of S. Main Street for a 24-hour parking violation.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 12:20 p.m., Officers issued a parking citation in the 500 block of S. Main Street for a 24-hour parking violation.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 12:27 p.m., Officers issued a parking citation in the 500 block of S. Monroe Street for a 24-hour parking violation.  There is a presumption of innocence until proven guilty. 

● At approximately 2:45 p.m., Officers responded to the 100 block of State Hwy 69 for a theft complaint.  The investigation is under investigation and is pending the review of the video surveillance footage. 

On Dec. 7:

● At approximately 9:50 a.m., Officers along with assistance from the Green County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit conducted a “free air sniff” of the interior of the Monticello Schools located in the 300 block of S. Main Street.  The K-9 did not give any indication of illegal substance on school property.

 On Dec. 8:

● At approximately 11:40 a.m., Officers received a report of a possible injured racoon in the 200 block of Lake Avenue.  Officers located the young racoon and found that it was not injured.  It had run away when the officers approached the racoon to check on it. 

● At approximately 1:05 p.m., Officers received a parking complaint in the 100 block of N. Main Street.  The vehicles owner was located and the vehicle was immediately moved.  

● At approximately 2:47 p.m., Officers responded to the 100 block of State Hwy 69 for a panic alarm.  After officers arrived it was found that the alarm was accidentally set off.  There was no emergency.  

● At approximately 3:27 p.m., Officers conducted traffic control on N. Main Street at Coates Avenue.  This was for the Monticello Fire First Response who were responding to an emergency medical call. 

● At approximately 4:39 p.m., Officers received a report of a possible injured racoon on the island at Lake Montesian.  The racoon ran off as it was approached and was found not to be injured.  

On Dec. 9:

● At approximately 8:12 a.m., Officers responded to the 100 block of State Hwy 69 for a reported alarm.  Officers found that everything was okay and that it was a false alarm after arriving on scene. 

● At approximately 9:57 a.m., Officers responded to the 300 block of S. Monroe Street for a vehicle unlock.  The vehicle was unlocked without incident.

On Dec. 10:

● At approximately 4:58 a.m., Officers received a report of an alarm in the 100 block of N. Pratt Road.  Management was contacted and it was found an employee set the alarm off.  Everything appeared to be okay.

● At approximately 9:46 a.m., Officers responded to the 100 block of State Hwy 69 for a reported alarm.  Contact was made with employees.  Everything appeared to be okay.
