Lillian Ida Hefty passed away on Wednesday, February 05, 2014 in Nashville, IN. She was a lifelong resident of Monroe, Wisconsin until she moved to Indiana in 2007 to be closer to her daughter, Barbara. Monroe remained in her heart and mind during her time away.

Born February 27, 1923 in Argyle, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Wenger. She married Roy N. Hefty on November 18, 1944 and together, they lived in Monroe where they raised their three children. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe and volunteered at church as well as within the community.

She worked in nursing at St. Clare Hospital in Monroe giving patient's kind, supportive care. Her sweet and kind personality prompted many letters of appreciation from patients through the years. She continued to volunteer at the hospital after her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed visiting with family, playing cards or bingo with friends, reading, dancing and traveling with her husband here and in Europe.

Survivors are Judy Bailey (Doug) of Mountain View, CA; Barbara Hefty Jones (Bill) of Bloomington, IN; Dr. Tom Hefty (Debbie) of Seattle Washington; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Wenger; her husband, Roy Hefty; and her brother, Herbert Wenger.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home at 1455 Mansion Drive with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, WI.
