BELLEVILLE - Leona Schulz, age 83, of Belleville, WI, passed away on July 20, 2009. She was born on November 12, 1925 to her parents Peter O. and Louise (Ott) Klassy in New Glarus. Leona attended the Ross School. On August 23, 1946 she was united in marriage to Alvin W. Schulz in New Glarus. Leona farmed with her husband until retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Belleville, the Women's Guild, and the Belleville Senior Citizens. Leona loved to travel, play cards, make homemade wine and sequin calendars, photography, bowling, and gardening. She also enjoyed friends and family and was always willing to help others.
Leona is survived by her daughter, Juanita (Rodger) Harbort of Belleville; a grandson, Andrew (Linda) Harbort of Madison; a granddaughter, Pamela (Mathew) Sharon of San Antonio, TX; two great-grandchildren, Mark and Jason; a sister, Florence Voegeli of New Glarus; and sisters-in-law, Elva Klassy of Greenville, NC and Eleanor Klassy of Monticello, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin Schulz; brothers, Alvin and Marvin Klassy; and a brother-in-law, Earl Voegeli.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI, with the Rev. Heide Walker-Hackman officiating with burial in the Belleville Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI, and also from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the First United Church of Christ.
