Leona M. Loveland, age 89, Janesville, formerly of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville. Leona was born on March 19, 1920 in Dolliver, Iowa, the daughter of the late C.W. and Edith (Goldsberry) Carr. She married Arnold L. Loveland on June 7, 1939 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Following her graduation from high school, Leona took normal training courses and studied home decorating. She moved to Monroe in 1944 and worked as an interior decorator for Bruni Miller Co. from 1960 until retiring in 1990. She was an active member of the Monroe United Methodist Church serving on many committees. Due to health conditions, she moved to Janesville to live with her daughter, Cheryl, in 2006.

She enjoyed bingo, bowling, bridge, fishing, cooking, gardening and entertaining friends and family. These activities as well as playing euchre at the Senior Center and her membership in the Monroe Moose Lodge kept Leona busy.

She will forever be remembered for her love of the Lord and her passion for life. She is truly a beloved, treasured blessing.

She is survived by her four loving daughters, Cheryl (Frank) Borowitz of Janesville, Linda (Jerry) Bauer of Elba, Alabama, Bonnie (Blain) Schumacher of Janesville, and Karen (Thomas) Bainbridge of Woodstock, IL; 15 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold on June 12, 1989; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., at the Monroe United Methodist Church with Pastor Pat Soddy officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, at a later date. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Leona's name. The Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, is assisting the family.
