Leon P. "Lee" Geiger, age 84, of Monroe died on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home. He was born on August 2, 1928 in Neenah, the son of Leo and Mary (Neiling) Geiger. After High School graduation, Lee entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in September of 1946 in Chicago and was discharged in April of 1948 in California. He was in the Airborne Division where he was a glider pilot and a parachutist, attaining the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. While in the Army he played football on their divisional team and was a Golden Gloves boxer. Following Lee's military service he attended Marquette University on a football scholarship, graduating in 3 years. He continued to play football for the Flying Dutchmen, a semi pro team. Lee and June Robertson were married on June 10, 1950. He worked for the Boy Scouts of America in Appleton and later transferred to Detroit, at their National Headquarters. In 1961 the family moved to Monroe where Lee bought the Monroe Sales Company and in 1965 built Alphorn Ford, Inc. which has grown to a group of 16 dealerships. He was a member of the American Legion Zilmer Riley Post #84, St. Clare of Assisi Parish, National Dealer Council Vice Chairman, and Ford Dealers Advertising Board for 15 years, serving as chairman for several years. Lee's philanthropy helped many local groups and organizations. On September 22, 1993 he bought the Monroe Clinic building, donated it to the City of Monroe and helped raise the funds to remodel it to the Monroe Library. He also established an endowment for the Marquette University. He enjoyed traveling, spending winters with his wife, June in Pompano Beach, Florida (they were getting ready to drive there), he loved his home in Alaska on the Kenai River where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, June; children, Steven (Jean) Geiger, Mark (Chris) Geiger, David Geiger, Susan (Gary) Becker; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Geiger. He is predeceased by his parents, a brother, Francis, and a granddaughter, Kathleen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Clare of Assisi Parish at St. Victor Catholic Church with Fr. Michael E. Klarer Celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery with Military Rites accorded. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, 1455 Mansion Dr., Monroe.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Lee's memory.
