SHULLSBURG - Leo Anthony Wiegel, age 97 of Shullsburg, WI, died on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Shullsburg Home surrounded by his family. Leo was born on March 25, 1912 in Seymour Township the son of Joseph and Mary (Schuchart) Wiegel. He married Ottilia Busch on October 25, 1939 in Dickeyville. They farmed in Seymour Township all of their married life. Ottilia preceded him in death on November 28, 1999. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Seymour Township, WI.
Survivors include his fourteen children: Ruth Quinn, James Wiegel, Kenneth (Judy) Wiegel, David (Sonja) Wiegel all of Seymour Township, Betty Harwick, Joan (Mel) Westemeier both of Shullsburg, Diane Wiegel of Madison, Gary (Janet) Wiegel of Martintown, Margie (Bill) North, Julie (Mike) McKillip both of Darlington, Edward (Kandi) Wiegel of South Wayne, Jeanne (Randy) Reed of Apple River, IL, Connie (Steve) Franz of Somonauk, IL, Rick (Terri) Wiegel of Cuba City; 50 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; his sister: Irma (Bud) Loeffler of Milwaukee; two sisters-in-law: Rose Wiegel Martin of Shullsburg and Lucille Busch of Cuba City; many other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son: Donald Wiegel; four grandsons: John, Jason, Todd, and Christopher Wiegel; two sons-in-law: Dick Quinn and John Lyne; eleven brothers and sisters: Ann and Edna Loeffelholz, Margaret Alt, George, Elmer, John, Barney, Sr. Marianne, Joseph, Frank, and Gertrude Wiegel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at OUR LADY OF HOPE CATHOLIC CHURCH in Seymour Township, WI with Msgr. Daniel Ganshert officiating. Burial will be at the Our Lady of Hope Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00 - 9:00 PM on Monday, November 9, 2009 at STEIL CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 206 E.
