Lena man arrested for growing pot at home

Rockford, Ill. - On Oct. 26, the State Line Area Narcotics Team (SLANT) in conjunction with the Lena Police Department arrested a Lena man on drug charges, according to a statement.

Michael K. Zellweger, 39, 512 W. Main St., was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a class 1 felony.

State Line agents along with Lena police officers conducted a search warrant at Zellweger's home. Three pounds of cannabis and numerous items used in an indoor cannabis growing operation were seized in the search.

Zellweger was incarcerated at the Stephenson County jail.

These charges are only an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty, according to a statement from State Line.
