ALBANY - Leland R. Strommen, age 84, of Albany, WI (formerly of Blanchardville) died on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at his residence. He was born on August 23, 1924 in Dane County to Clarence and Rosie (Everson) Strommen. Leland attended Loyalty Rural School and graduated from Blanchardville High School in 1942. He was married to Alice M. Schilt in 1952, and they had five children. Leland later married Alice F. Dugan on October 6, 1993, who had four grown daughters.

Survivors include his wife, Alice F. Strommen, four children: Marjean Gregory of Gurnee, IL, Mary Day (Darryl) of Rutledge, TN, Marlys Sandilands (Phil) of Allen, TX, Mark Strommen of Middleton, WI; four step-daughters: Vickie Bryant (Dennis) of Portland, OR, Terri Dugan (Mike) of Kenosha, WI, Sherrie Donahue (Kevin) of Albany, WI, and Teryl Watson of Albany, WI. They have 19 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Leland is also survived by: a sister, Dorothy Christopherson (Jim) of Sioux Falls, SD, and sisters-in-law: Clara Strommen of Blanchardville, WI and Lenore Strommen of Janesville, WI.

Leland was preceded in death by: his parents (Clarence and Rosie Strommen), wife (Alice M. Strommen), son (Marvin Strommen), son-in-law (Randy Gregory), grandson (James Gregory), and brothers (Vernus and Roland Strommen).

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI with Mr. Tom Haltom and Mr. Jim Josephsen officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2008 in the Belleville Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of service on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.

A memorial fund to the Monroe Clinic Hospice has been established.
