Lawrence Vinger
Lawrence Vinger, age 99 of Argyle, WI, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, November 13, 2008. He was born June 19, 1909 on his family farm in Adams Township, WI, the son of Edward and Laura (Farmer) Vinger. He attended Argyle High School. At age 17, when his father passed away he was left to help his mother run the family farm. Later he attended Madison College where he graduated from their two year Business course in 1932. In 1935, he purchased a bulk truck and delivered for Blanchardville Coop Oil Association. Lawrence was united in marriage to Bertha Wenger on February 20, 1937 at Adams Lutheran Church. He purchased a garage and filling station in Argyle in 1939. In 1945, he expanded the business contracting with International Harvester. This became Vinger Implement, a business he owned and operated for over 35 years.

Lawrence is survived by his wife: Bertha; four daughters: Barbara (William) Bowen of Rockford, IL, Lorraine (Robert) Jeffus of Bellevue, NE, Debra (John) Carew of Appleton, WI, Denise (Ted) Parrish of Eden Prairie, MN; one son: David Vinger of Madison, WI; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Olga Vinger; two half sisters: Viola Rundhaug, Mable Peterson; and a half brother: Oscar Vinger.

Lawrence was a life long member of Argyle Lutheran Church and he served on the Board of Trustees. He served on the Argyle Village Board for twenty-seven years, chairing several committees throughout the years. Lawrence also served the Argyle community as a volunteer fireman.

Celebration of Lawrence's life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Argyle Lutheran Church with Rev. Larry Pinnow officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle. A visitation will be held Monday, November 17, 2008 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle and also at the church on the day of services from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
