Larry "Goid" Hanson, age 60, of Monroe, died on Sunday, June 12, at V.A. Hospital in Madison, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 22, 1955, the son of Freeman and Irene (Johnson) Hanson in Monroe. He was united in marriage to Rita Rae Broge on April 9, 2002 in Las Vegas; she preceded him in death in 2006.
Larry proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a painter and owned his own business. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.
Larry is survived by his parents, Freeman and Irene Hanson of Monroe, siblings, Dave Hanson of Monroe, Sue (Brian) Hoffmaster of Monticello, Jeff Hanson of Knoxville, TN, and Sara (Bill) Ritschard of Monroe. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita.
A visitation will be Saturday, June 18th from 10:00 to 12:00 noon at the SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERALHOME. A Celebration of Larry's life will follow at the Depot Bar in Monroe, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
