Kenneth V. Hendrickson, age 92, of Monroe, WI, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at his home. He was born March 31, 1919, in Argyle Township, WI, the son of Oscar and Olga (Skattum) Hendrickson. Kenneth graduated from Argyle High School in 1937. He was united in marriage to Betty Smith on July 4, 1941, at Blanchardville Church Parsonage. Kenneth lived in the Argyle and Monroe areas most of his life. He worked for the Monroe Police Department for 23 years retiring as Chief of Police on May 1, 1978. Kenneth drove heavy equipment for Lafayette, Dane, and Green Counties. He owned and operated Service Insurance Agency in Argyle for 12 years.

Kenneth is survived by two sons: Larry (Sharon) Hendrickson of New Glarus, WI, and Jerry (Ethel) Hendrickson of Green Valley, AZ; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one brother: Myron Hendrickson of Monroe, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Betty on March 22, 2002; one son: Donovan Hendrickson on September 30, 1990; one brother: Ernest Hendrickson; and two sisters-in-law: Geneva Hendrickson and June Hendrickson.

Kenneth was a member of Apple Grove Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Army from 1942 until 1945, during which time he was stationed in North Africa and was also involved in the invasion of Salerno, Italy. Kenneth was also a member of the Monroe American Legion Zilmer Riley Post #84 for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Apple Grove Lutheran Church, 14501 Apple Grove Church Road in Argyle with Rev. Daniel L. Bohlman officiating. Burial will be in Apple Grove Cemetery with military rites to be accorded by Monroe American Legion Zilmer Riley Post #84. A visitation will be held Sunday, December 11, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 60 Breeze Terrace in Argyle and on Monday, December 12, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until the time service at the church.
