LODI - Kenneth John Boss, age 84, passed away at his home in Lodi, on January 18, 2014.

Kenneth was born on August 15, 1929 in Monroe, the son of John "Jack" and Sophie Stoll Boss. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1947. Kenneth served his country in the United States Army as a radio operator from Jan. 1951 to Dec. 1952 with the Second Armored Division at Fort Hood, TX and near Frankfurt, Germany. He married Pauline Grossenbacher Boss on Dec. 25, 1953 in New Glarus, WI where they raised their family. He worked at the local dairy and subsequently had a long career in the insurance business in Madison. While living in New Glarus, he was a member of the American Legion Post #141, the Swiss United Church of Christ, the Lions Club, and the Wilhelm Tell Guild, where he was very successful as publicity chair. Kenneth was an avid hunter, softball player, bowler and photographer. He married Laurie Pappas Boss on Aug. 18, 1990 in Lodi, where they lived for the past 23 years. They spent many good years together enjoying living in the country, traveling, and antiquing.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie Boss; his children from his first marriage, David Boss (Laurel) of Ft. Collins, CO and Ann Boss Sheffels (Michael) of Maple Grove, MN; his grandchildren Erin Sheffels, Sara Sheffels, Christopher Sheffels and Hayley Boss; his stepchildren Christopher Pappas and Andrea Atkins-Pappas, other relatives and friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sophie Boss. A celebration of his life will be planned for this spring in New Glarus, WI.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (theaftd.org) or the Alzheimers Assoc. (alz.org).
