Kenneth A. Johnson, 94, of Beloit, WI, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, in Premier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing.

A life long resident of Beloit, WI, he was born February 15, 1918 the son of Christian and Agnes (Swain) Johnson. Ken married Florence M. Hanewall on October 25, 1941 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. She preceded him in death on April 10, 1995. The couple were married for 54 years.

Ken was a 1936 graduate of Beloit High School. He started his 46 year career with Fairbanks Morse Engine Division in 1936, retiring in 1982 as Manager of Shop Operations. In 1972 Ken was elected to the Rock County Board of Supervisors where he served a term as Vice Chairman and 16 years as head of the Planning and Development Committee. He retired after 30 years of elected service in 2002.

Ken was a life long member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, a past President of the Fairbanks Morse Quarter Century Club, Beloit Toastmaster Club, Beloit Baseball Veteran's Association, and a Beloit Lions Club member. He was a member of the "old" Fairbanks Morse Fairies professional basketball team. Ken was also a former WIAA Football and Basketball official. Golfing with his friends Rollie Lewis and Les Nystrom were highlights of his later years.

He is survived by a son, Norman (Sandy) Johnson of Rockton, IL; a daughter, Kathy (Robert) Reffue of Monroe, WI; a grandson, Christopher (Tiffany Meek) Johnson of Rockford, IL; three great grandchildren; and a special friend, Lois Papesh.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Florence; daughter, Margaret Ann; and two sisters, Alice (Al) Olson and Lorraine Johnson.

A private family graveside service will be held in East Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Philip Allen officiating. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit, WI assisted the family with arrangements.
