DARLINGTON - Kay L. Jacobson, age 72 of Darlington, WI, died on Monday, July 20, 2009 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on April 10, 1937 in Argyle, WI to Curtis and Alice (Webb) Thompson. She graduated from Darlington High School in the Class of 1955. On November 10, 1955, she married Oliver W. Jacobson at the parsonage of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Darlington, and they shared 53 years of marriage. Together, they raised four children and farmed in Hollandale and Fayette Township until 2006. Kay also worked at the Kroger Store and Lafayette County Manor. She was a 4-H leader and taught religious education. Kay was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church at Yellowstone and of its Council of Catholic Women. St. Michael's Church and Cemetery meant a lot to Kay, and she was very actively involved in its management and activities.

Survivors include her husband, Oliver; her children: Bill (Rita) Jacobson of Monroe, LuAnn (Pat) Donahoe of Darlington, Sandy (Trent) Sefton of Machesney Park, IL, and Joel (Sheila) Jacobson of Johnsburg, IL; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her brother, David Thompson of Dodgeville; a brother-in-law: Carroll (Mary) Jacobson of Darlington; three sisters-in-law: Noda Schwartz of Monroe, Delores Jacobson of Darlington, and Joann Kammerud of Blanchardville; two special cousins: Eulala "Eukie" Heimstead of Madison and Pat Holderfield of Commerce, Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Nancy Kay; four brothers-in-law: Leland Kammerud, Howard Jacobson, Alan Schwartz, and Richard Olson; and two sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Grob and Marjorie Olson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at HOLY ROSARY CATHOLIC CHURCH in Darlington, WI. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Fayette Township, WI. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at STEIL CAMACHO FUNERAL HOME, 206 E. Harriet Street, Darlington, WI, where a Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m.
