DAKOTA - Kathryn A. Kuhlmeier, 100 of Dakota passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Manor Court, Liberty Village, Freeport, IL. She was born November 22, 1914 at Freeport, the daughter of Claude and Mary (Dahlem) Downey.

On November 8, 1933 she married Howard W. Kuhlmeier at Freeport, IL. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1994.

A homemaker, she and her late husband farmed in the Dakota area many years. She sewed thousands of teddy bears, lap robes and baby blankets for charity. She attended Resurrection Lutheran Church of Avon Park, FL., where she and Howard wintered for 30 years.

Survivors include: two daughters, Janet (Mills) Kneller of University City, MO. and Rae (Kenneth) Kuhlemeyer of Freeport and two sons, Jim Kuhlmeier and Fritz (Sally) Kuhlmeier all of Dakota. Ten Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; two Great-Great Grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her Parents; Husband; one Son; one Grandson, two great grandchildren and one brother Jay Downey.

Services will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1:30 P.M. at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota with Visitation from 11:30 A.M. until the time of service Saturday at the Funeral Home. Pastor John McIntosch and Pastor Dennis Buss will co-officiate. Burial will be in the Dakota Cemetery. A memorial fund is being established in her name.
