Katharine D. "Kat" (Klassy) Klukas

Katharine D. "Kat" (Klassy) Klukas, age 75 of Monroe, died Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the home of her daughter in Brodhead. Katharine was born January 28, 1938 in Monroe, the daughter of Kenneth H. and Grace V. (Figy) Klassy. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1956. Katharine was employed as a bookkeeper at Monroe Truck Equipment for 26 years before retiring. She also tended bar part-time for

many years and valued her friendships along the way. She enjoyed spending time with family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing cards, socializing with friends, and going on shopping adventures with her daughters. In her early years, she enjoyed camping, boating, snowmobiling, and other group outing with close friends. She always had a good sense of humor, like to laugh, and was considered a good friend to many.

Survivors include two daughters, Dianne (Tim) Rundle of Brodhead, Debi (Scott) Marty Kramer of Platteville; a sister, Carolyn Hilliard; a brother, Jerry (Mardy) Klassy, both of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Nicholas (Ann) Hartwig, Derrick, Skylar, and Levi Rundle, Logan, Mattea, and Addison Kramer; her great granddaughter, Harper Hartwig; and her daughter's father, Richard Marty of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Jim Klukas; and brother-in-law, Ronald Hilliard.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at 6:00 p.m., at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Reverend Lawrence Balleine officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services. A memorial gathering will be held at Monroe American Legion Post #84 following the funeral. A memorial fund will be established in Katharine's name.
