MONROE - The pool of potential jurors for the trial of a Monroe man accused of repeatedly sexual assaulting a teen, who he later adopted, became a little smaller Wednesday.
James M. Norquay, 49, did not appear in court Wednesday. But his attorney Eric Schulenburg, along with Assistant Attorney General Dennis Krueger, who is prosecuting the case for Green County, appeared before Green County Circuit Judge Thomas Vale via telephone.
Both attorneys agreed to excuse 15 of the 70-juror pool for the trial, set to start Nov. 14. During testimony, they said they hope to excuse about five more, bringing the jury pool to 50.
A motion hearing is set for 9 a.m. Nov. 2, to see where the attorneys stand with their motions, as well as to review jury instructions.
Norquay, a former state patrol officer, is charged with second-degree sexual assault of a child, a class C felony; three counts of sexual assault of a child by a foster parent or treatment foster parent, a class C Felony; and two counts of incest with a child, a class C felony.
