WARREN - Joyce M. Peters, 66, of Warren, IL, passed away on January 3, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 6th, 1943 in Freeport, IL to Howard and Mildred (Barr) Kluck. Joyce attended the Robinson rural school and graduated from Warren High School in 1961. She married Jon C. Peters on December 27, 1963 in Galena, IL. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1991. Joyce was employed by the Driftwood Café and by Micro Switch Co. in Warren where she retired in 1998. Joyce's passion for growing plants prompted her start of JP's Greenthumb in 1992 later expanding to Shullsburg and Platteville, WI. Joyce attended floral classes in Decatur, IL where she became an Illinois Certified Professional Florist. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, and crocheting, collecting antiques and she especially enjoyed collecting cookbooks, gardening, canning and cooking. She was a member of the Micro Switch Quarter Century Club.

She is survived by her extended family, Chuck and Patti Fosler of Warren, IL; her special grandchildren: Hannah Mulcahy of Gratiot, WI, Kevin and Savannah Fosler of Warren, IL; and close friends, Lyle and Kay Olmstead, Margie Ferry, Phyllis Leitzen, Pam Hicks and Carolyn Niemann, all of Warren, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mildred Kluck; her mother- and father-in-law, Everett and Evelyn Peters; and brother in-law, Noel Peters .

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 7th, 2010 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home in Warren, IL. Pastor Margo Peterson will officiate the services.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home.

Burial will take place in Elmwood Cemetery in Warren, IL.

A memorial has been established in her name.
