Joyce C. Kant, age 85 of South Wayne and later Monroe, died on Friday, August 8, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Manor in Footville. She was born on April 21, 1929 in Wayne Township, Lafayette County, the daughter of Jay and Mamie (Seffrood) Larse. She graduated from South Wayne High School. Joyce married Mervin L. Kant on October 27, 1948 in the West Wiota Lutheran Church. Joyce farmed with her husband in Wayne Township, also helped with Kant Feed Service and Kant's lunch wagon. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Zion Country Club and area homemakers. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and was a great cook.
She is survived by 2 sons: Jeffrey (Juanita) Kant of South Wayne and Mark (Mary Lou) Kant of Janesville; 4 grandchildren: Michael Kant, Doug (Ellen) Kant, Jackie (Joe) Partipilo, and Jenna Kant (Mark); 6 great grandchildren: Tyler, Henry, Stella and Lauren Kant, Giada and Jay Partipilo; 3 step grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren; brother, Harold Larse of South Wayne; and a sister, Eunice Graham of South Wayne; special friend Clark Lelle of South Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Mervin and brother, Charles Larse.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, South Wayne, with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Burial will be in West Wiota Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 to 7:30 pm at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME. A memorial fund is being established in Joyce's name.
