Jolanda "Jo" M. Tertin, age 90 of Monroe, died on Monday, December 29, 2008 at the Greenway Manor in Spring Green. She was born on September 22, 1918 in Monticello, the daughter of William F. and Alma C. (Blum) Wirth. She attended schools in Monticello and in Janesville, residing in Monroe since 1937. Jolanda and Walter E. Tertin were married on April 1, 1937 in Freeport, Illinois. "Grandma Jo" enjoyed meeting new people, reading and doing crossword puzzles, but most of all she enjoyed being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Renee M. (Chuck Wyman) Tertin of Lone Rock; brother, Frederick "Bud" (Rachel) Wirth of Janesville; great-grandsons, Harrison and Brandon Cobb of Lone Rock. She is predeceased by her husband, Walter; son, Michael Tertin; and daughter-in-law, Diane (Venturelli) Tertin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2008 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME. Officiating will be Pastor Matthew Spoonhour of the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home.
