JUDA - John W. Kolander, age 90 of Juda, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 25, 2010 at his home. John was born March 22, 1920 in Juda, the son of the late Ben and Lena (Ronspiez) Kolander. He graduated from Juda High School in 1940 and served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was proud to have helped build the Alaska Highway during his time of service. John worked out of his home as a television and radio repairman and also volunteered at the Juda Park for many years.
He was a faithful member of the Juda Fire Department for 35 years.
John is survived by his brother, Floyd (Betty) Kolander of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. Reverend Thomas Miller will officiate with burial to follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Juda. There will be no visitation.
