John Nelson, 70, of N. Fort Myers, longtime resident of Florida, passed away July 14, 2009. He was born in Paxton, IL, and graduated in 1957 from Monroe High School, Monroe, WI. John owned and operated Southern Pest Control in Lehigh Acres, retiring in 2002.
He is survived by his son, Larry Nelson, Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his father, Norman Nelson, Janesville; his mother, Betty Deming, Janesville; four brothers, Don (Diane) Nelson, Brodhead, Richard (Judy) Nelson, Monroe, Edward Nelson, Janesville, James (Sharie) Nelson, Leaf River, IL; three sisters, Mary Jo (Edwin) Bandi, Janesville, Linda (Steve) Martin, Thomosboro, IL, and Norma (Ray) Radloff, St. Petersburg, FL. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark.
John loved life, a world traveler, former president Sarasota Coin Club, president Optimist club, a member of many charitable organizations; member of Edsel Car Club, former Past Worthy President of N. Fort Myers Eagles Club, avid NASCAR fan, Sunshine Singles Club. He was loved and will be missed by his family.
A Celebration of Life was held 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 17, at River Estates Club House.
