John Garrett (Jack) Weymouth died Nov. 5, 2011, in Sun City, Arizona, age 90. He was quietly gregarious and made us laugh easily and often. Born August 28, 1921, Jack grew up on the west side of Chicago. He discovered and most revealed who he was through building and transforming with his hands. He began as an apprentice in the lathing and plastering trade, eventually becoming a contractor in the Chicago building industry. Raised a city boy, he realized a long time dream on his farm in Juda, Wisconsin, renovating the original farmstead home and barns, planting trees and gardens, keeping horses; enjoying friendship and collaboration with good neighbors and friends there. His hands stayed busy during retirement with work in lapidary and silver craft clubs where he enjoyed mentoring newcomers. Jack served in Italy and North Africa during the second World War as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps - a formative experience in which he took extraordinary pride. He is survived by his wife, Therese (Mulvey) Weymouth (Glen Ellyn, IL); his children, Fred, Jackie and Roxanne Weymouth, and Tara Wilder; his stepchildren, Stephen Hansen, Barbara Alfapada, and Kathleen Hokenson; and his grand children, Garrett and Brianne Weymouth, Laurel and Collin Keen and Mikayla Wilder. Jack is preceded in death by his father, Frederick William Weymouth and his mother, Theo Christine (Holien) Weymouth, his two brothers, Willie and Jim Weymouth, and his grandson, Ryan Pagels.
