MONROE/BRODHEAD - Joan A. Gadow, age 78, of Monroe, formerly of Brodhead, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2013, at The Monroe Manor, Monroe, WI. She was born on April 5, 1936 in Janesville, WI, the daughter of Clarence and Roberta (Brown) Roettger. She married Orvel C. Gadow Jr. on August 21, 1954 at the Methodist Church, Durand, IL. He passed away on June 7, 2002.
Joan had worked as a nurse's aid at St. Clare Hospital, Monroe, and as a seamstress at APCO Mfg., Brodhead. She enjoyed embroidery, cooking, dancing, and being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Connie (Leland Jr.) Showers, Monroe, WI, Jill (Randy) Rosheisen, Brodhead, WI, Jack (Jill) Gadow, Ft. Wayne, IN; grandsons, Shawn and Derek Rosheisen, Leland Showers III, Joshua and Jeremy Gadow; granddaughters, Ruth Ann Suthers, Rachel Showers; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Huling, IA; brothers-in-law, LaVerne (Dorothy) Gadow, Robert (Margaret) Gadow; sister-in-law, Janet (Ronald) Nenneman, all of Brodhead; several nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Donald, Richard, and William Roettger, sisters, Margaret Sterbenz and Connie Mae Roettger, in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the D.L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI, with Pastor Krystal Goodger officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brodhead, WI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
