BRODHEAD - Jeanette L. Crooks, age 66, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Mercy Hospital, Janesville. She was born August 23, 1944 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Vernon and Helen (Marshall) Whitledge.

Jeanette attended Brodhead High School. Jeanette and George Crooks were married April 27, 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa.

They farmed for fifty years in Decatur Township. She was a leader for Decatur 4-H, was Queen Chair Person for Green County Ag Chest, and baked cream puffs for many years. Jeanette's hands were always busy, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and machine embroidery. She loved her flowers. She created a business of Jordan Prairie Antiques and became a dealer with specialties in costume jewelry and vintage clothing.

She is survived by her husband George; daughters: Shannon Eurich of Gillette, Wyoming, and her children Kyle and Kris Adams; Joyce (John) Baggot of Shiocton, WI and their children Tierney (Mike) Wasmundt, Joe (Rachel), and Ashley; siblings, Connie Whitledge and Vernon Whitledge, Atlanta, GA, Bonnie (Mike) Moore of Brodhead, and Amy (Bruce) Mills of Brodhead; sister-in-law Carol Whitledge of Brodhead and brother-in-law Eddie (Evelyn) Crooks. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at D. L. Newcomer Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 28, 2011, with Pastor Tiff Bates officiating.

A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday evening.

Burial will be in Moore's Cemetery, Town of Decatur.
