Age 84 of Green Bay died Thursday, May 10, 2012.
Jean was born Jean Adair Roth on January 23, 1928 in Juda, Wisconsin. She grew up on the family farm, was a graduate of Juda High School, and married Hans P. Rechsteiner on Feb. 7, 1948 in Monroe. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1996. They worked together in the cheesemaking business until he joined Kraft Foods and she devoted her time to raising their family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and William Roth; brother Harley Roth; and a sister Caroline Roth. She is survived by her three sons, Robert (Mary) of Laughlin, NV, Norman (Renee) of Spooner, WI, and Neil (Kathy) of Green Bay; two brothers, Ned (Sharon) of Brodhead, and Jim (Janeen) Roth of Orangeville, IL; and a sister, Delores Jayo. She especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jean and Hans made a life in little towns all over the Midwest while Hans worked for Kraft. After their boys were grown, Jean became the first member of the family to learn computers. She worked in the billing department for various companies until her early 70's.
Jean and Hans "retired" and became owners of a Dairy Queen in Baraboo, WI, which they enjoyed until Han's death. Jean retired again to a quiet life in Green Bay. She loved to travel, visiting Alaska, Panama, Australia, and Europe. She will be remembered by all who met her especially her 1966 foreign exchange son from Ecuador, Juan Elias Castillo and his family who just last week sent some gifts to their "Mom".
