Janice Rae Engebretson, age 71 of Monroe, formerly of Orangeville, Illinois and Monticello, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born on March 4, 1936 in Blanchardville to Howard and Esther (Schindler) Hermanson. She attended the Loyalty rural school, and graduated from the Blanchardville High School in the class of 1954. During her marriage with Fred Wenger she had five children. She was later married to James Engebretson. Janice worked as a care giver helping people in their homes. She also worked at Wal-Mart in Monroe for a few years. Janice enjoyed dancing and listening to music, playing cards, fishing, camping, bird watching, baby-sitting for her grandchildren, and spending time with her family.
Janice is survived by five children, Fred Stephen (Jean) Wenger of Davis, Illinois, Christine (Ronald) Faith of Monroe, Lynn (Steve) Jordan of Orangeville, Illinois, Lisa (Kevin) Davis of Orangeville, Illinois, and John (Teresa) Wenger of Davis, Illinois; one sister, Sharon (Bill Kempley) Selbach of Portage; one sister-in-law, Doris Hermanson of Blanchardville; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Glen Gilmore; a brother, Floyd Hermanson; a niece, Rahna Wilson; and an infant granddaughter, a daughter of Lynn and Steve.
Private family funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville, Wisconsin. Rev. Dan Krahenbuhl of the Monroe Bible Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Blanchardville. A public visitation will be held Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. before the service at the Saether Funeral Home (608) 523-4247.
