Janice Marie Koester, 69 of Davis, formerly of Rock Grove, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at her home with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born November 12, 1940 at Lake Geneva, WI, she was the daughter of William and Leona (Cummings) Dundee. She and Arlan D. Koester were married on June 10, 1961. He preceded her in death. Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved reading, watching old western movies, going on weekend getaways, spending time with her family, friends and her dog "Snickers."

She is survived by two daughters, Helen (John) Ortman of Freeport, Alice (Kevin) Fosler of Davis; three sons, Mark Koester of Freeport, Herman (Toni) Koester of Orangeville, Eric (Nicole) Koester of Apple Valley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Cory, Kenny, Miranda, Adam, Matthew, Vicki, Mikayla, Chastity, Samantha, Aubry and Arlan; five great-grandchildren, Derrick, Makayla, Michael, Peyton and Johnna-Lee; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; two sisters, Evelyn Tucker, Adeline Winstead; four brothers, Walter, Elwood, Marvin and Eugene Dundee.

Visitation will be 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home with the Rev. Thad Rutter of Dakota-Rock Grove United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Grove Union Cemetery, Rock Grove. A memorial fund has been established in her name for FHN Memorial Hospice.
