Janice L. Paulson, age 72, of rural Darlington, WI, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at her home. She was born May 31, 1939, at her family's home in Adams Township in Green County, WI, the daughter of Vernus and Irene (Dearth) Olson. Janice graduated from Blanchardville High School in Blanchardville, WI, in 1957 and from Green County Teacher's College in Monroe, WI, in 1959. On June 27, 1959, she was united in marriage to Marvin Paulson at the Yellowstone Lutheran Church in rural Blanchardville. Janice lived and farmed with her husband in the Darlington area for 35 years. She taught at Mount Pleasant, Fayette, and Darlington Schools. Janice later worked at the Roost Restaurant before returning to Darlington Schools as an aide for 25 years, retiring in 2000.
Janice is survived by one daughter: Marlene (Tom) Alexander of Dodgeville, WI; two sons: Jeff (Connie French) Paulson of Spring Green, WI, and Greg (Linda) Paulson of rural Darlington; five grandchildren: Austin Alexander, Tayah, Dakota, Garrett, and Kloey Paulson; one step-granddaughter: Karlie (Ted) Jackson; three brothers: Tommy Olson and Rodney (Vicki) Olson both of Blanchardville, and Dave (Marita) Olson of rural Dodgeville; one sister: JoAnn Schober of Platteville, WI; and one aunt: Marion Bredeson of Argyle, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Marvin on March 8, 1996; and many other family members.
Janice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington. She served as a 4-H leader for 15 years. Janice was the Clerk for Darlington Township for 14 years. Janice loved attending her children's and grandchildren's events, especially their horse activities. She was an avid crossword puzzle and word find enthusiast.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Erickson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 508 Main Street in Darlington. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Darlington. A visitation will be held Thursday, December 29, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Erickson Funeral Home and also on Friday, December 30, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
