James L. Finley, age 69 of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 6, 2012 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital.

Jim was born June 10, 1942 in Dane County, the son of Ruth (Haffele) Paulson and George Finley.

He attended Argyle High School and was formerly married to Alice Sarbacker.

Jim farmed and worked at various Green County cheese factories. For the past 40 years he drove truck for Whitehead, Ruan, and Superior Trucking. He was proud of his position as a Union Steward for Teamsters Local #507. He was an active member of Jordan Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and with the Men's Group.

He loved his family, taking an active role in his grandchildren's lives. Jim enjoyed traveling to various sporting events with the Ludlow Bar group and was a member of Monroe Moose Lodge #754.

He is survived by his son, Dale L. Finley (Ashley Klapper) of Monroe; grandchildren, Daniel, Blake, and Addelynn; two sisters, Virginia (Daryl) Severson of Browntown, and Sandra (James) Gilbertson of Deerfield; the mother of his grandsons, Nicole Fleming with whom Jim had a special relationship; nieces and nephews; special friend, Joan Barth; and special friend/sister, Diana Moen both of Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his parents; the father that he always knew, Albee Paulson Sr.; a daughter in infancy, Tammy Finley; and a brother and sister-in-law, Albee (Sandy) Paulson Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012, at 11:00 A.M., at the Jordan Lutheran Church, rural Browntown, with Pastor Dennis Perger officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge.

Visitation will be at the Newcomer funeral home, Monroe, on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund in Monroe will be established in his name.
