Irene A. Schurch, 84, of Davis, died Thursday January 7, 2010 at her home. Born March 23, 1925 in Rock Grove Township she was the daughter of Otto and Flossie (Haas) Koepp. Irene attended the Walnut Grove Grade School and later attended Davis High School. She and Frederick Schurch were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rock Grove on December 23, 1944. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church until its closing. Irene and her husband Fred farmed for many years in the Rock Grove area. She also worked at Swiss Colony and Medina Nursing Center. Her memberships included St. Paul Church of Epleyanna and Stephenson County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of Davis; one daughter, Diane (William) Munson of Knoxville; two sons, Duane (Diane) Schurch of Orangeville, Gary (Deb) Schurch of Dakota; six grandchildren, Angela (John) Hillier of Knoxville, Michael (Tiffany) Munson of Galesburg, Tammy (Anthony) Buich of Carlsbad, CA., Timothy Schurch of Orangeville, Tracey (Lucas Kempel) Schurch of Orangeville, Derek Schurch of Dakota; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Gertrude Schneeberger of Davis and Sylvia Thoren of Freeport.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lance Cpl. Ronald Schurch; granddaughter, Meredith Schurch and great-grandson, Dakota Munson.

Visitation is from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10, at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Dakota. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Church of Epleyanna, rural Davis, with the Reverend Dick Thompson. Burial will be in the Rock Grove Union Cemetery in Rock Grove. A memorial fund has been established in her name for FHN Hospice and St. Paul Church of Epleyanna.
