MONROE - A 19-year-old man was arrested early Monday, July 23, after police found him sleeping in an SUV reported stolen in Mitchell County, Iowa.

Nicholas A. Lenz, Toeterville, Iowa, faces charges of theft and possessing stolen property, according to the Monroe Police Department. Police reported finding him in an SUV behind a business in the 1300 block of 31st Avenue at 3:42 a.m.

The charge of theft is related to a gas drive-off reported the previous day at 2:14 p.m. at Stop-N-Go, 1607 9th St. Police say the plates on the vehicle that drove off without paying for gas match the SUV where Lenz was found sleeping.

Lenz was jailed pending court or extradition to Iowa.
