Mr. Ignatius T. "Cookie" Koch died on December 26, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital at the age of 76. He was born in Amidon, North Dakota on June 28, 1932, the son of John and Katherin (Staudinger) Koch. He had two brothers: Leo and Joe Koch and five sisters: Florence, Pauline, Tillie, Marian, and Agnes. He grew up in rural North Dakota until he joined the military service in December of 1950. He was honorably discharged in December 1953. During that time he served in the Korean War. He received the Parachutists Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. After the service he moved to the Janesville, Wisconsin area looking for work. He worked at the Delavan Golf Course, the Ding-a-Ling, and at General Motors where he retired in 1988 after 34 years of service. He was married to his wife Mary in 1965 and settled down in Albany, Wisconsin and lived there the rest of his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching his boys grow up playing football and baseball. He liked his polka music and socializing with the local people (getting the latest joke) until his mobility was restricted.
Surviving is his wife Mary of Albany, WI; two sons: Mark (Lisa) Koch of Footville, WI, Mike (Sharon) Koch of Monticello, WI; five grandchildren: Jasmine, Garrett, Holly, Emily, and Austin; three sisters: Tillie Hauck of Richerton, ND, Marian Schmidt of Mott, ND, Agnes Kemp of Lake Geneva, WI.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Albany. Time of service will be at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Michael Moon will be the Celebrant. Burial will occur at Hillcrest Cemetery.
