Helen J. Eyler age 90 of New Glarus, formerly of Monroe and Juda, died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the New Glarus Home. Helen was born October 24, 1924 in Spring Grove Township, the daughter of Otto and Fern (Douglas) Becker. She attended Oakley Country School and graduated from Brodhead High School in 1943. Helen married Rex W. Eyler on June 14, 1947 in Monroe. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1988. Helen loved gardening, taking care of her animals, and feeding the birds. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and until her sight failed, Helen was an ardent reader.
She is lovingly survived by two sons, Tom (Karen) Eyler of Monticello, and Bill (Sue) Eyler of Juda; two grandsons, Jon (Brandi) Eyler and Jason (Laura) Eyler, both of Monticello; four great grandchildren, Katelyn, Andrew, Jackson, and Russell Eyler; a sister, Sarah (Elvin) Busjahn; and three brothers, Robert (Mildred), Rodney, and Russell (Nancy) Becker. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe, with Pastor Mary Gafner of the Washington Reformation United Church of Christ officiating. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established in Helen's name.
