BELLEVILLE - Heinz Beutel, age 82, of Belleville passed away on Monday, December 27, 2010 at his home following a valiant battle with cancer that was diagnosed on July 14th. Heinz was born in Juda on March 8, 1928 to William and Emma (Brink) Beutel. He attended Sam Ball School and graduated from Juda High School in 1946. On June 1, 1947 he and Dorothy Whitehead were united in marriage. Together they raised three children. Shortly after marriage Heinz started working different places in the cheese industry. He was a Swiss cheesemaker at the Speich Cheese Factory for several years. Heinz started work for Standard Oil in Monroe, which later took the couple to Belleville in 1956, Janesville in 1975, and Dodgeville in 1976. He retired in 1983 and moved back to Belleville. Heinz then worked at several part time jobs, driving school bus for many years, and his most enjoyable job was driving motor coach for twenty years. He was a former member of the Belleville Fire Department and Belleville Area EMS. Heinz also served on the Belleville Village Board and was a past-president of the Belleville Community Club. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin up north, along with golfing, playing Euchre, dancing (especially to the Greg Anderson Band), and played 500 in a club made up of his teen-aged friends that have been playing together for over sixty years. Heinz also enjoyed going north to hunt deer for about thirty years with the Francois group.
Heinz is survived by his wife Dorothy, sons Keith (Anna May) and Kurt (Laura) all of Belleville, and a daughter Vickie (Stan) Puterbaugh of Oxford, WI. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Kim Haley, Austin, TX; Tracy (Ben) Goth, Verona; Brian Rufener, Chattanooga, TN; Jason Beutel, Dodgeville; and Amanda (Brandon) Hatlevig, Belleville; five great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother Ernest and sister-in-law Charlene Beutel both of Monroe, WI, and a sister Gerda Elmer of Cottage Grove, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Alice, and a brother Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the First United Church of Christ, 130 E. Church St., Belleville, WI with the Rev. William McIntyre and Rev. Heide Walker-Hackman officiating.
Relatives and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
