Hedwig Louise (Kopp) Wuethrich of Monroe died Friday, August 28th, 2015 from a brain aneurysm at UW Hospital in Madison, surrounded by her loving family.
Hedy was born on Sept. 5, 1930 to Jacob and Elise (Ingold) Kopp on Rat Hollow in Argyle. She attended schools in Argyle, New Glarus, and Monticello through 8th grade. She was very proud that as an adult she went back to school and earned her GED.
On August 21st, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert C. Wuethrich of Monroe. He preceded her in death on October 3, 1986.
Through the years, Hedy worked at the old Chocolate Shop, at Dutch's Inn, and Equity Sale Barn. Although she wore many hats as a farm wife, she always said that her most important job was a mother raising her seven children.
She was a member of Monroe Turn and Schwing and taught Sunday School at St. John's Church, where she was a life-long member. Hedy attended and graduated from Clown School, going by the name of Twinkle Toes. She was a former member of several area bands, including the Twilighters and most recently The Has-Beens. She also volunteered at the Behring Senior Center.
Her hobbies were quilting, her flower and vegetable gardens and watching the birds that came to her many feeders. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, playing her guitar, singing, dancing, and former Green Bay Packer Donald Driver.
Hedwig is survived by her seven children: Anna (Ivan) Zettle, Monroe, Barbara (Patrick) Herry, France; Carolyn Wuethrich, Sun Prairie, Dawn Wuethrich, New Mexico; John Wuethrich (Tai Ruegsegger), Monroe; Julie (Steve) Webber, Fayette; Laurie (Don) Guthrie, Argyle, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Ruth Ruf, Martha Scherer; brothers Fritz (Barbara) Kopp and Rudy Kopp, special sister-in-law Margie Schilt, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, brother Louis Kopp, sister Verena Graber, and grandson Jeffery Koch.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 1st from 4-8 p.m. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home and services at 11 am Wednesday, Sept. 2nd at St. John's United Church of Christ with Rev. Tiff Bates officiating. Burial in Bethel-Hawthorne Cemetery.
