Harold F. Borhart, 80, of Huntley, Ill., passed away May 6, 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born November 19, 1928, the son of Louis and Grace (Jaster) Borhart. He married Pearl Mae Allen on October 10, 1953 at the First Baptist Church of Woodstock.

He was actively involved with 4-H, the Future Farmers of America and Rural Youth where he met his wife. He loved sports, travel, Lutheran Church activities and spending time with his family. He loved the country and farm life. He was a proud dairy farmer and raised crops for many years, a tradition he passed on to his children.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Pearl Mae; his children, Steven Borhart of Monroe, WI, Jean (Richard) Byers of Forreston, IL, Sue (David) Shanks of Garden Prairie, Larry Borhart (fiancée Misty King) of Mansfield, IL, Linda (David) Moore of Huntley and Judith (Terry) Peterson of Hebron; grandchildren, Shannon Borhart, Betsy Byers, Matt (Natalie) Byers, Tim (Cindy) Shanks, Amy (Shawn) Krass, Walter Shanks, Grace Shanks, Philip Shanks, Rachel (Bert) Wenzel, Daniel Borhart, Andrew Moore, Abby Moore, Cassandra Peterson and Rebecca Peterson; great-grandchildren, Justin Shanks and Chase Krass; and a sister-in-law, Francis Borhart.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Leora (Delbert) Nerge; and his brothers, Delwin Borhart and Wilmer (Verna) Borchart.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 11, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St., Union, Ill. Visitation will continue Tuesday, May 12, from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service with the Rev. Caleb Schauer officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Woodstock.
