BRODHEAD - Harley E. Scheidegger, age 85, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at his home. He was born on April 24, 1923 in Dakota, IL, the son of Andrew and Herma (Winn) Scheidegger. He married Caroline A. Sterbenz on August 31, 1946 in the Town of Center, Rock County, Wisconsin. She passed away on March 13, 2004.
Harley grew-up in Dakota, IL and attended Walnut Grove School. With his wife, he farmed in the stateline area, Hanover, Monroe, and Jefferson Township, Green County, prior to moving to Brodhead. He was an active Wisconsin Farm Bureau member and was a custom hay bailer for over 20 years. He loved hunting mushrooms and raccoons with his dogs.
He is survived by several loving cousins, including Carol Hafen, Juda, WI, Donald Scheidegger, Rockford, IL, Levi Scheidegger, Brodhead, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at the D. L. NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, BRODHEAD, WI with Father Michael Moon, St. Rose of Lima Catholic church, presiding. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Town of Center, Rock County, Wisconsin
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Green County Humane Society.
