APPLE RIVER - H. Gordon Lamont, age 85, of Apple River, IL, retired area farmer, passed away on March 6, 2008 at the Lena Living Center. He was born on April 19, 1922 in Apple River, IL, to Howard and Reba (Oliver) Lamont. He attended Apple River and Warren Schools and the University of Wisconsin. He was a member of Apple River Masonic Lodge, Apple River Fire Department, Apple River United Methodist Church and was a board member of Swiss Valley Coop for 15 years.
He married Margaret Rowe of Warren on January 23, 1943. She preceded him in death on February 19, 1995. They lived on a rural farm just outside of Apple River for 30 years.
He is survived by two sons, Randall (Emily Wray) of Baton Rouge, LA and Rodger (Linda) of Oshkosh, WI; five grandchildren, Edward Lamont and Lindsay Turner of Baton Rouge, LA, Becca Mathie of Waukesha, WI, Brian Lamont of Monroe, WI and Jim Lamont of Madison, WI; four great-grandchildren, Kendall Claire Lamont, Margaret Amy Mathie, Carston Oliver Lamont and Wynn Turner.
He was preceded in death by his only brother, Oliver; sister-in-law, Ieleen; and one grandchild, Melisa Margaret Lamont.
A private graveside service will be held at West Ella Highland Cemetery, Apple River, IL. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008 at the Apple River United Methodist Church. A memorial fund has been established for the Apple River United Methodist Church.
