Glenn F. Gruenberg, age 77, of Bloomington, WI passed away Sunday March 13, 2011 at Orchard Manor in Lancaster, WI. He was born June 25, 1933 to Reinhold and Helen (Schutt) Gruenberg in Jordan Township, Green County, WI. He was united in marriage to Marian F. Due on October 25, 1952 in Monroe, WI. Glenn was raised on the Klondike farm in Green County and took over the farm in the late 1950's where he farmed for a few years.

He then worked for Ryan Construction and Green County Highway department before starting his own excavation business in 1968. He operated Gruenberg and Sons Excavating for 17 years. In 1985, Glenn sold the excavating business, built a covered wagon and left on a journey with his wife Marian. They traveled from Argyle to northern Wisconsin before trekking all the way to Texas where they joined the bicentennial wagon train for a few months, traveling around Texas. Jerry and Maude were the two loyal Belgium horses who pulled them nearly 2,000 miles on this adventure. They stayed for a time at Brenham, TX at the Monastery St. Claire where they assisted Sister Bernadette in raising world class miniature horses. After returning to Wisconsin in 1987, Glenn worked for McGuire Construction as a backhoe operator for 11 years before retiring in 1998. He loved to play cards, hunt, cat fishing, gardening, and a good steak.

He is survived by his wife Marian, a brother Ken (Carol) Gruenberg, Monroe, sister Kathryn Gruenberg, Stoughton, their children, Laurie Gruenberg, Argyle, Craig (Michele) Gruenberg, Hales Corners, Kim (Jill Pratt) Gruenberg, Darlington and Kevin (Melissa) Gruenberg, Argyle as well as four grandchildren Amy (David) Fortier, Racine, Denise (Dan) Fink, Waukesha, James (Danielle) Gruenberg, Oak Creek and Danielle Gruenberg, Brodhead, and three great grandchildren, Archer, Shelly and Elijah Fortier. He was preceded in death by his father in 1976 and his mother in 1983.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Orchard Manor of Lancaster for all the care and kindness they have given. Leonard Funeral Home and Crematory, Dubuque is assisting the family.
