Gladys L. Von Kaenel, age 94, of New Glarus, formerly of Monroe, died on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the New Glarus Nursing Home. She was born on February 1, 1921 in Yakima, Washington, the daughter of Charles and Edith May (Ervert) Ashman.

Gladys and Robert Von Kaenel were married on August 22, 1943 in Yakima, Washington.

She worked at Oaktron Industries and at The Swiss Colony.

Gladys was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time with family; especially spending time with her husband in Sun City, West Arizona.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Karen) Von Kaenel of Monroe; daughters, Debra Goyich of Monroe, Mary Von Kaenel of Monroe; grandchildren: Jerry (Heidi) Von Kaenel, Gary (Mandy) Von Kaenel, Derek (Whitney) Goyich; great-grandchildren, Nash, Wyatt, Veronica, Auburn, and Walker Von Kaenel.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; brothers, Charles Ashman, Ernest Ashman; sisters, Mabel Hudson, Helen Walters and son-in-law, Ted Goyich.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home 1455 Mansion Dr., and N. 18th Avenue with co-officiants, Pastor Dennis Perger and Pastor Chuck Heffelfinger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, March 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home. A memorial is being established in Gladys's memory.
