Gary Lee Atter, age 73 of Madison, WI, formerly of Wiota, WI passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 at Bluff Point AFH in Madison, WI. He was born September 1, 1941 in Wiota Township, WI to George W. and Wanda (Scott) Atter. Gary worked for 30 years in cheese factories in Wisconsin and Illinois. He moved to Madison in 1980 where he worked in building maintenance and was last employed as a crossing guard in Black Earth where he enjoyed taking care of the elementary children. Gary is survived by his sister: Karen (Dave) Pape, Mazomanie, WI; many nieces and nephews; and special friends: Bob and Linda Liddecoat, Madison, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister: Beverley (LeRoy) Peterson.

Gary enjoyed playing cards, watching baseball and football, and putting together puzzles. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at Lamont United Methodist Church at the corner of Highway D and Highway 81 in Lamont, WI with Rev. Dr. Connie Peake of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Darlington, WI officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle, WI at a later date. A visitation will be held at 9:30 until the time of services at the church. The Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington, WI is serving the family.
