Freeman M. Mills age 88 of Monroe, died at his home on Saturday, December 6, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Freeman was born December 12, 1925 in Marion County, Indiana, the son of Freeman G. Mills and Maxine G. Mills Evans. He graduated from Eminence High School in Indiana. Freeman studied to be an X-Ray Technician while serving three years in the U.S. Navy. He married Alice Jean Flanigan on June 21, 1946 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Racine, WI. Freeman worked as Chief X-Ray Technician at St. Luke's Hospital in Racine and later at the Monroe Hospital until 1965. He then was employed as the manager for Hughes Mobile Homes in Monroe for 10 years before establishing Mills Homes of Freeport which he operated until retiring in 2008. Freeman was a member of St. Victor Catholic Church in Monroe, Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many years. He was a scout leader and enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.

Freeman is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alice Mills of Monroe; two children, Frank (Sandy) Mills of Fort Atkinson, and Jolene (Scott) Jenny of Monroe; two grandchildren, Todd Barrett Mills and Alison Jeraldine Weir; three brothers, Donald (Joan) Mills, William (Brenda) Evans, and Jon (Susie) Evans, all of Indianapolis, IN; three sisters, Nancy (Gene) White of Deerfield, MI, Barbara Denzio and Virginia (Rudy) Driver, both of Indianapolis; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; five children, Cheryl Sue, Timothy Mitchell, Helen Maxine, Freeman "Pat" Mills, and Jacquelyn Weir; two brothers, Max and James Mills; and a sister, Shirley Christman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Monroe. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Military graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, at Calvary Cemetery in Racine. A memorial fund will be established in Freeman's name for the Monroe Clinic Home Care and Hospice.

Freeman enjoyed life with a smile and always had a story to tell.
